KNYSNA, South Africa, 18 November 2020 – Entries for the 2021 Knysna Cycle Tour, taking place on 3 and 4 July, are open at www.knysnacycle.co.za with discounted entry fees available to riders entering before year end.
With 2020 being a painful year for many, the organisers wish to ease that pain a little by offering entries at the same price as for the 2020 event. Group bookings can score an additional discount depending on the number in the group, which can be made up of family, friends, club members, business associates or any combination.
The Knysna Cycle Tour, an anchor event of the Knysna Oyster Festival, was one of the many events that succumbed to the COVID-19 national lockdown regulations resulting in the postponement of the entire Oyster Festival.
In place of the live Cycle Tour the organiser, Knysna Speed Festival, reached out to its existing and new participants in an effort to keep the event in the spotlight through hosting a successful virtual event via Zwift and Strava on 27 and 28 June.
“COVID-19 obviously threw everyone into an unprecedented situation and turned our lives upside down, but it is clear that there are so many people that want to get back to living life as close as normal again. As such, there is great demand to get cycle races on the go, and hence our opening entries now for the 2021 event,” explained Knysna Cycle Tour race director, Ivan van Lier.
“While our virtual events proved to be a great success, there is nothing like the real thing. We are therefore excited to get our participants back into the Knysna forest and surrounding roads in July next year to enjoy one of the country’s oldest and favourite cycling festivals.”
Being one of the iconic, original cycling festivals (next year will be the 33rd edition) the Knysna Cycle Tour attracts participants from all walks of life to ride both the Road Race and MTB routes through the awesome scenery of the area.
